The presence of pottery brightens and enriches the dining table. Using pottery makes everyday life beautiful and pleasing. With this in mind, we have produced household ware that is in harmony with any style of living.

Our highest aim is that users gain a sense of spiritual wealth by incorporating delicately painted ceramic items into their daily lives. We want to offer tableware that intrigues people, allows them to discover something new, and brings joy every time they use it.

Embracing the history and climate of Arita, such as the colors of the sky and the scent of the wind, is another feature of the products of Keizangama. The lovely, delicate patterns focus on elegant details, and the outstanding practicality of the ceramics conveys the excellence of handmade craftsmanship from bygone times right up to the modern age.

When the pottery is taken out of the firing chamber (kiln), it is still slightly warm, and if you listen carefully, you can faintly hear the sound of it breathing.
After taking the fired pieces out of the kiln, we send them with the message, “o and make everyone involved in the Keizangama happy.”

We continue to produce pieces in our long-established porcelain hub and hometown, keeping the uninterrupted flow of history in mind.

History of the Keizangama Kiln

  1. The Keizangama Kiln was opened in 1957 by our ancestor, a craftsman who specialized in operating the potter’s wheel. While passing down the tradition through generations for more than 400 years, we have been producing pottery that was needed at the time.

The name Keizan (渓山), which means "valley and mountain" in Japanese, comes from the kiln's location near a beautiful valley punctuated by crystal clear streams.

In the early days, we produced artistic, luxury tableware of superior quality for ryotei (high-class Japanese cuisine restaurants) and royal families.

However, we currently also produce tableware that can be used by everyone on a daily basis to meet contemporary needs.
